About Jazz Junkie

Jazz Junkie was built from a long-standing passion for jazz-funk, soul, fusion and groove-led music from the 1960s to the present day. The aim is simple: share great records, help people discover albums worth buying, and bring that same depth of knowledge into DJ sets for real-world events. I’m especially drawn to music with movement, warmth and musicianship — records that work just as well on headphones as they do in a room full of people.

My Sound

Favourite eras and styles - My sound traces a path from the early jazz crossover of Herbie Hancock, through the jazz-fusion and funk of the late ’60s and early ’70s, into the rich, soulful grooves of Lonnie Liston Smith, Charles Earland and Eddie Henderson, before flowing naturally into elegant dancefloor jazz, soul and disco in the style of Players Association.

My Approach

My approach is rooted in groove, timing and selection. I build sets that move naturally through jazz crossover, fusion, funk, soul and disco, creating a journey that feels both sophisticated and danceable. A great jazz-funk set should have warmth, character and flow — drawing people in, building energy at the right moments and always keeping the music rich, soulful and moving.

Why I recommend records as well as play them

I recommend records as well as play them because great music deserves to be shared beyond the dancefloor. A DJ set can spark the connection, but an album recommendation gives people the chance to explore the music more deeply and keep living with it long after the night ends.
